The High Priestess’ direction: West
West is the direction of the High Priestess’ element, water, in many magickal systems.
West is the direction of closure and endings. It’s the direction the sun travels as it passes into the Otherworld of night before being reborn in East the next day. The West is the gateway, much as the pillars and tapestry behind the High Priestess on many decks. The West symbolizes completion, harvest, maturity.
