The High Priestess planet/astrological assignment: the Moon
Moon - The moon is the ruler of the unconscious and occult (hidden) matters. Secretive and mysterious, she (for the moon is most often female) is the keeper of wisdom, memory, emotions and fertility. Additionally, she symbolizes phases and cycles of all kinds, from tides to women’s fertility. Connected with instincts, dreams and imagination, she also governs illusions. She also rules the family, mothers, daily habits, and domestic life. As Luna (Selene in Greek), she is associated with yin, or female energies, including the anima in men.
The Moon is like a movie screen, so it encompasses the Jungian concept of the “projection” of an animus or anima image that one person may unconsciously place on another.
– Hazel, Elizabeth, Tarot Decoded. (Weiser Books: York Beach, ME ©2004), p. 64
In her dark aspect, she represents loneliness, isolation, and sorrow. She can be overemotional, insecure, fearful and moody.
